Paul Eluard

paul-eluard-2Paul Eluard was the pen name of Eugene Emile Paul Grindel (12.14.1895 - 11.18.1952), a French poet who was one of the founders of the surrealist movement along with Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.
His poetry was also inspired by Walt Witman and Arthur Rimbaud. After meeting a group of young writers (André Breton, Louis Aragon, and Philippe Soupault, who were active in the Dadaist movement) he became one of the driving forces of Surrealism, signing the original Surrealist manifestos.

Lady Love
by Paul Eluard

She is standing on my eyelids
And her hair is in my hair
She has the color of my eye
She has the body of my hand
In my shade she is engulfed
As a stone against the sky

She will never close her eyes
And she does not let me sleep
And her dreams in the bright day
Make the suns evaporate
And me laugh cry and laugh
Speak when I have nothing to say
